Then Pilate had Jesus scourged. The soldiers struck him and mocked him, but he was silent like a lamb before its shearers.
The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe.
Jesus carried his own cross to the place called The Skull. Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry the cross for him.
When they came to the place called The Skull, they crucified him. It was the sixth hour when darkness came over all the land.
